Denver Botox is a neurotoxin, a substances that alter the message that is sent from the nerves to the muscles temporarily reducing the contractions of the muscle that cause wrinkles. Several tiny injections are administered directly into the muscle that causes lines and wrinkles. Your provider will determine where those muscles are and discuss with you appropriate treatment options. The effects from your treatment are fully realized approximately 7-10 days post injection and last 3-4 months.
What is neurotoxin?
Neurotoxins are a protein solution that when injected into a muscle helps to relax and prevent muscle contractions.
Are Botox, Xeomin, and Dysport the same thing?
Xeomin and Botox are just two different brands of the same neurotoxin. Like the brand Kleenex, Botox is often used as a general term for all neurotoxins. Read our blog post to understand the slight differences between Botox and Xeomin.
Will Botox help correct or prevent wrinkles?
Absolutely, Botox will help both correct and prevent wrinkles. There are two different types of lines and wrinkles: dynamic and static. Dynamic lines are visual when making facial expressions such as frowning and smiling, whereas static lines are present even while the face is at rest. Overtime and as we age, dynamic lines turn into static lines. This is where neurotoxin can be effective for prevention. The injection of Botox slows the muscles and ultimately prevents the dynamic expression lines from etching deeper into the skin and becoming static lines.
Botox will also correct deep static lines, however it may take several injection treatments space 3-4 months apart for older, more etched-in lines and wrinkles to begin to fade.
Once I start Botox, is it something I have to keep doing all the time?
For correction of lines and wrinkles it is recommended to continue Botox injection treatments on a regular basis, approximately every three to four months. Because the cell memory will always persist under the skin, static lines and wrinkles can return once you have discontinued Botox injections. This is why laser and other skincare treatments are recommended along with Botox to actually stimulate and repair the collagen under the skin while reducing dynamic movement.
However Botox can also be used as a one time treatment for instant improvements for a special occasion!
What areas and skin conditions can be treated with neurotoxin?
- Horizontal forehead lines
- Frown lines in between the brows
- Crow’s feet around the eyes
- Bunny lines on the bridge of the nose
- "Gummy smile" (Botox can help drop the upper lip for people who tend to show a lot of gums when they're smiling)
- “Orange peel” skin on the chin
- Jowls on the jawline
- Platysma bands on the neck
I don't want that frozen look. Is there a way I can use Botox so that no one else will know?
Absolutely, Botox can be used in moderation to soften expression lines or more heavy handedly to completely freeze the muscle. All of our Denver Botox clients have a different opinion as to what they prefer. You are an active participant in deciding what's best for you. If it is your first time trying neurotoxin we recommend starting on the more conservative side as it is easier to add more Botox then to take it away.
Botox vs. filler—what is the difference?
Botox, which is actually a brand-name, is a type of neuromodulator. Like its competitors Xeomin and Dysport, these products prevent the muscle from contracting, relaxing it and smoothing out the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
Filler on the other hand is a substance injected under the skin to replace lost volume. Common name brands of fillers include Juvéderm, Juvéderm Voluma, Radiesse, and Belotero to name a few. Some fillers are designed to rebuild facial volume and structure where others treat moderate to severe etched in lines and wrinkles. A popular area where our downtown Denver Botox clients tend to notice a loss of volume first is in the nasal labial folds, those commissure lines around the mouth. However other areas such as upper lip lines, cheek bones, and the jawline can be treated.
I want to look good for very special event. When should I do my Botox?
Botox formulations are different for everyone. At Denver Laser Solutions our Denver Botox clients inject at least four weeks prior to a big event. Botox will gradually take effect over the course of one to two weeks, giving you the full effect at the two week mark. A follow-up appointment should be made if it is your first time as to give us enough time to make any necessary tweaks. In addition, possible bruising is always a risk when inserting a needle into the skin and two to four weeks is plenty of time for a bruise to heal prior to a big event.
What is a unit of Botox?
Botox is measured in units. Each area of the face requires a different amount of units of Botox depending upon how strong the muscle is. Because Botox is delivered as a powder on dry ice it is reconstituted into an injectable form by mixing it with saline. This new liquid formulation divides the Botox up into units of measurement and then can safely be injected into the muscle.

Juvederm, Volbella, and Voluma are all types of filler substances. Fillers replace lost volume. As we mature gravity’s pull will displace fat in our face causing deep lines around the mouth known as nasal labial folds, forming heavy skin on the jawline called jowls, and shrinking the apples of our cheeks giving us a ‘hollow” look. Filler gives us the ability to sculpt these features back into our face achieving the youthful appearance that we once had. Different types of filler are used for different areas of the face. Your injectable provider is highly skilled and knowledgeable in all injectable fillers and will discuss with you a treatment plan that fits your budget.
What is the difference between Denver Injectables; Botox and Fillers?
Denver Botox and Fillers are both considered injectables. The difference however, is that Botox is a neuromodulator, which prevents communication to the muscles, relaxing the area and preventing expression lines. Popular areas for our Denver Botox clients to get injected are the frown lines inbetween the brows, the horizontal lines on the forehead and smile lines around the eyes.
Fillers are actually injected into the tissue, "filling up" lines and wrinkles, as well as adding volume to the face in areas such as the lips, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and cheek bones. You may commonly hear of certain Fillers in Denver such as Juvéderm, Radisse, Sculptura, Artefill and now the most popular Filler used in Denver is Voluma.
Are Fillers Safe?
Injectable Fillers are completely safe whether made of hyaluronic acid, or calcium hydroxylapatite, both are biocompatible substances identical to what is naturally found in our body.
Are there any side effects to receiving injectable Fillers?
Fillers are proven to be a safe, effective way to contour and augment the face. Side effects are relatively minimal, the most common being bruising at the injection site along with mild swelling, both temporary in nature.
How long will my injectable Filler last?
Depending upon what type of Filler used will determine its longevity. Juvéderm, Juvederm Volbella, and Juvéderm Voluma in Denver are popular amongst our downtown filler clientele.
Juvéderm and Volbella are a softer, more jelly like substance best for augmentation of the lips, under eyes, and nasolabial folds, and with optimal treatment it can last up to 1 year. Juvederm Voluma offers instant volume to the cheek area and because of its thicker consistency it can last up to 2 years with optimal treatment.
I don't want my face to be fat, why would I want to add volume?
Usually we do not think of adding volume as a beneficial thing, but it can drastically change the way we look. By injecting volume in strategic areas, we can change the shape of the face in a subtle way, similar to how contouring with makeup can change the face. This can make the face look overall thinner.
How do I know if Fillers are the right option for me?
Fillers are a great option for anyone wanting an instant self-confidence boost. Volume loss in our face occurs naturally over time, with the ability to instantly replace those high cheek bones, soften the deep parentheses around the mouth, or erase the vertical lines in the upper lip, we are able to feel better about the way we look.

Now you can remove the fat under your chin without liposuction! The latest injectable solution from the makers of Botox is Kybella. Specifically formulated as an injection to destroy fat cells under the chin; Kybella can assist in non-surgical facial augmentation by reducing the appearance of your "double chin".
What is Kybella?
Kybella is a solution specifically formulated to be injected into the fat under the chin. The active ingredient, deoxycholic acid, assists in destroying fats cells which gives us a non-surgical option to remove fat under the chin with results similar to liposuction.
How many Kybella treatments will I need?
Deoxycholic acid slowly destroys excess fat cells located under the chin. Depending upon how large the fat pad is will determine how many injection sessions are needed. Spaced approximately one to two months apart a series of 2-4 injection sessions may be required to achieve optimal results.
What are the side effects?
Directly after the injection the area feels tender and achy. You should expect swelling, tingling, possible bruising and even numbness in the area for up to one month. Redness and even areas of hardness in the treatment area are sometimes noted. We recommend taking 400 mg of ibuprofen one hour prior to the session along with using ice packs post treatment to reduce inflammation and help with pain management.
How soon will I start to see results?
It will take approximately one month for the swelling to subside completely after Kybella injection, therefore at about the one month mark you will start to notice more contoured jawline. Remember though, most people require at least two sessions to see results and up to four for optimal improvement.
How long do results last from Kybella for double chin reduction?
The active ingredient in Kybella, deoxycholic acid, causes the destruction of fat cells. Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat again. Therefore, results from Kybella are permanent.
What happens if I were to gain weight after getting injected with Kybella?
In the clinical trials leading to FDA approval, patients who received Kybella and then gained weight did not show return of the double chin. Therefore fluctuation in your weight will not produce a negative effect.
